Maximir Alvarez is a consultant in FinTech, financial institutions regulation and supervision, microfinance, financial inclusion, payment system reform and currency management.
Since 2007 he has engaged in diverse projects on risk-based supervision framework, financial inclusion, microfinance, FinTech, credit guarantee schemes and payment systems. He has also authored documents for regional bodies on FinTech regulation, consolidated supervision, microfinance supervision best practices and risk ratings use and regulation.
He has provided technical assistance to financial supervisors and central banks, as well as international organisations such as the Associations of Banking Supervisors of the Americas and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.
From 1984 to 2007 he worked at Banco Central de Venezuela (BCV), Venezuela’s central bank, where he reached the highest technical position, as Senior Vice President for domestic operations
Maximir Alvarez currently lives in the United Kingdom. He has strong IT skills both as user and responsible for planning and budget allocation. He is fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese and has conversational level of French and Italian.
